Brewing FFOX coffee using an espresso maker requires precision and attention to detail to achieve a rich, flavourful shot. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you make the perfect espresso:
Equipment and Ingredients:
- Espresso machine
- 18gm of FFOX Coffee in Espresso Maker Grind
- Burr grinder (if grinding beans yourself)
- Tamper
- Espresso scale (optional but recommended)
- Timer
- Clean, filtered water
- Espresso cups/ Regular coffee mugs
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preparation: Ensure your espresso machine is clean and filled with fresh, filtered water. Turn on the machine to allow it to fully heat up, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
- Measure and Grind Coffee: Measure 15-18 grams of FFOX coffee powder for a single shot espresso.
- Prepare the Portafilter: Remove the portafilter from the machine and wipe it clean and dry. Add the ground coffee to the portafilter basket, aiming for a level, even distribution.
- Tamp the Coffee: Use a tamper to apply firm, even pressure to the coffee grounds. The goal is to create a flat, level coffee bed for uniform extraction. Ensure there are no gaps or uneven areas around the edges.
- Lock in the Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the group head of the espresso machine and lock it in place.
- Extract the Espresso: Start the extraction process. Aim for a 23-27 second extraction time for a single shot. You should see a steady stream of espresso, which starts dark and gradually lightens to a golden colour with a thick crema on top.
- Stop the Extraction: Stop the extraction once you have about 30ml of espresso for a single shot.
- Serve: Serve the espresso immediately in pre-warmed cups to maintain the optimal temperature and flavour.
Enjoy your rich and flavourful FFOX espresso!
